Some people make a big mistake when they develop a website by adding all kinds of pictures, graphics, music, and animations. Although there is nothing wrong with using a few of these to make your website attractive you don't want to overdo it and create a website that is full of clutter. Your visitors are not going to take the time to search for what they want to buy-they want to be able to see everything as they open that page. If you want to include animations and graphics choose them carefully and add a few to each page of your website rather than cluttering every page with them.
One thing that tends to create a great deal of clutter is the advertisements that are placed because you are using a free website or website promotion. Although these things are nice when you are first beginning your website you have to reach the point when you pay for web hosting and web submission in order to avoid all of the banners you are required to have because you made use of a free service. These additional banners detract from the website itself and may drive your visitors away if they can't find what they want to see easily.
Instead of adding many graphics and animations to your website go with a simple design that will get your message across to potential customers. The purpose of your website is to promote your business, not see how artistic you are-unless of course, you ARE an artist and that is the purpose of your website. However, if you have a non-creative business and are attempting to sell products or services there is no need to attempt to overdo it thinking you will draw more visitors to your website.
If you must use free services attempt to use those that allow the least amount of clutter. If necessary create a special page for the links and banners so that they don't clutter the main portion of your website. You will still fulfill your obligation to have links back to the company that provided the free service but in a special place on your website. Keep in mind there are a few who insist of having their banner on your main page but these are in the minority-most do not tell you where to place their links and banners.
