There are millions of people who have been dreaming of owning their own Internet business and gaining financial freedom. Many don't pursue that dream because they don't believe that they have the skills they need, the funds they need or both. Fortunately there is a solution: a turnkey Internet business can often be established with a small investment and many opportunities require little more skill than common sense and determination.

A turnkey Internet business is one where you can literally step in, turn the key and make your first sale straight away, even if you have no previous Internet experience. You don't usually need to hire a web designer, buy a domain name or set up a web hosting account. In fact, you likely don't even have to know what you'd like to sell or even how to sell it.

There is no doubt that you have already seen the endless advertisements all over the Internet offering instant wealth for little or no money invested. Many of them go so far as to promise you success even if you are not willing to put much effort into the opportunity and even if you don't own a computer. Sadly, many of these schemers are only interested in getting their hands on your 'investment' and nothing else.

Caution, avoid "get rich quick" - Be very weary of promises that sound too good to be true. Often they are distorted truths which can be even more harmful to you because they sound so appealing yet do not reveal all that you have to lose. For instance, if the opportunity you are considering doesn't reveal that you will probably have to spend more on selling their products than a profit of the sale would generate for you that is a distortion of the truth. Remember your time is worth money; take into account the time you will spend to make a sale when you are calculating the amount of profit.

Choose a topic you enjoy and know - Before you even start looking at the different turnkey internet business opportunities available, make a list of your skills and interests. To a large extent that should determine what type of Internet business you should consider. Though you don't need technical knowledge of the Internet beginning a business on a topic that you have no knowledge about will be stressful and it will take a long time before you can do it well.

Conduct market research - Take the time upfront to conduct thorough research. Ask your important and pertinent questions before you purchase - after the sale is normally too late. Discuss the opportunities you are considering with trusted colleagues and friends ask their opinion. Would they find this an interesting business opportunity? Would they invest the money or do they find the price out of line with the value? This is an extremely effective free market research strategy that could save you hundreds of dollars and days of wasted time.

If your friends and colleagues like the products they may become some of your first customers. But that is not a sustaining business plan and in the long run you will have to find new customers. As part of your research find out how much advertising your new business will cost you both online as well as offline avenues such as newspaper or magazine advertising. Will the profit you gain from a sale justify the cost of advertising?

Calculate your return on investment - Don't forget that your time is worth money, when you take into account your own time in making a sale, will you still be generating a profit? Look into your return on investment. How many sales will you have to complete before you break even? How many sales would you have to make to generate enough money to replace your current income? Is that feasible given your research? If you offer high range products with high profit margins you will need fewer sales to generate the income, with lower price items such as eBooks or reports the sale may convert more easily but you will need thousands of them to generate that same income.

Research the company - Finally, take the time to research and study the company that offers the business opportunity. A quick search on your favorite search engine will reveal valuable information. Also look to reputable forums and ask others for their opinion of the company. Are people who have already bought into the business opportunity happy, or do they have many complaints? Are customers happy with the products are they truly selling the way that the company has told you they will?

A legitimate turnkey Internet business should provide you with a lot of satisfaction and income for years to come. A wrong choice will mean losing your initial investment and wasting a lot of valuable time in the process. To ensure your best chance for success follow the 5 guideline outlined above: don't believe everything you hear, chose something you enjoy, do your market research, know your return on investment and choose a solid reputable company to work with.
